Matching Curtains and Wall Colours
Curtains are a large expanse of colour: the way you match them to the wall changes the balance of the whole room.
Tone on tone
Curtains in the same colour as the wall, or in a close shade, stretch the space and create a soft, seamless effect. It's the safest and most elegant choice, especially with neutrals: sand, ivory, greige.
Measured contrast
A curtain that's darker or warmer than the wall adds depth and frames the window. A considered contrast always works better than a random colour: start from a shade already in the room (a cushion, a rug) and echo it in the curtain.
Mind the light
Colour shifts with natural light: a fabric seen in the morning can look different in the evening. Order samples and look at them in your own room at different times of day before deciding.
One extra detail
A contrasting border or trim along the edges of the panel adds character without overpowering: a thread of colour that finishes the curtain like a frame.
